Festival & Academy VER\u00c3O CL\u00c1SSICO 2025 | 11th edition<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>

INTRODUCTION<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

In 2025<\/strong>, the concerts of the Ver\u00e3o Cl\u00e1ssico<\/strong> return to the Centro Cultural de Bel\u00e9m<\/strong> \u2014 the Festival\u2019s \u201chome\u201d during its first five editions (2015\u20132019<\/strong>) \u2014 and to the Museu Nacional dos Coches<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

Among the internationally renowned musicians taking part in the 11th edition<\/strong> of the festival are the German singers Anna Samuil<\/strong> and Werner G\u00fcra<\/strong>, the American cellist Gary Hoffman<\/strong>, the Ukrainian pianist Milana Chernyavska<\/strong>, the Norwegian violist Lars Anders Tomter<\/strong>, the Belgian clarinetist Annelien Van Wauwe<\/strong>, and the Finnish double bassist Janne Saksala<\/strong>, soloist of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

The Opening Concert<\/strong> will take place on 23 July<\/strong> at 8:00 p.m.<\/strong> at the Centro Cultural de Bel\u00e9m<\/strong>, featuring works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart<\/strong>, Max Bruch<\/strong>, Anton\u00edn Dvo\u0159\u00e1k<\/strong>, and Ludwig van Beethoven<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

There will also be two monographic concerts<\/strong>: the first, dedicated to Franz Schubert<\/strong>, on 26 July<\/strong> at the CCB<\/strong>; the second, featuring works by Robert Schumann<\/strong>, on 30 July<\/strong> at the Museu Nacional dos Coches<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

Between 24 July<\/strong> and 1 August<\/strong>, six Talent Fest<\/strong> concerts will take place, featuring young award-winning musicians selected for the Ver\u00e3o Cl\u00e1ssico Academy 2025<\/strong>, who will present works by composers from the 18th<\/strong> to the 21st<\/strong> centuries.<\/span><\/p>

The Closing Concert<\/strong> of the 11th Ver\u00e3o Cl\u00e1ssico Festival<\/strong> is scheduled for 2 August<\/strong>, at the Museu Nacional dos Coches<\/strong>, featuring, among others, the Austrian violinist Eszter Haffner<\/strong>, the Swiss cellist Christian Polt\u00e9ra<\/strong> and the pianist Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro<\/strong>, artistic director of the festival. The programme includes works by Mozart<\/strong>, Brahms<\/strong> and Dvo\u0159\u00e1k<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

Founded in 2015<\/strong> at the Centro Cultural de Bel\u00e9m<\/strong> by Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro<\/strong>, the Ver\u00e3o Cl\u00e1ssico Festival<\/strong> is today regarded as one of the most prestigious and sought-after music festivals and academies in the world.<\/span><\/p>

Since its first edition, the Ver\u00e3o Cl\u00e1ssico<\/strong> has promoted, alongside the concerts, hundreds of masterclasses<\/strong> \u2014 open classes focused on musical technique and interpretation \u2014 led by internationally renowned musicians and pedagogues. This edition includes professors from institutions such as the Berlin State Opera<\/strong>, the Escuela Superior de M\u00fasica Reina Sof\u00eda<\/strong> (Madrid<\/strong>), the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth<\/strong>, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra<\/strong> and various conservatoires and universities in Vienna<\/strong>, Munich<\/strong>, Oslo<\/strong>, Lucerne<\/strong>, Berlin<\/strong>, Graz<\/strong> and Zurich<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

For this 11th edition<\/strong>, around 200 young musicians<\/strong> were selected from hundreds of applications received from more than 30 countries<\/strong>, including Germany<\/strong>, Australia<\/strong>, Austria<\/strong>, Belgium<\/strong>, Brazil<\/strong>, Canada<\/strong>, China<\/strong>, South Korea<\/strong>, Denmark<\/strong>, Spain<\/strong>, USA<\/strong>, Finland<\/strong>, France<\/strong>, Hungary<\/strong>, Ireland<\/strong>, Israel<\/strong>, Italy<\/strong>, Japan<\/strong>, Mexico<\/strong>, Mozambique<\/strong>, Montenegro<\/strong>, Netherlands<\/strong>, Peru<\/strong>, Poland<\/strong>, Portugal<\/strong>, United Kingdom<\/strong>, Serbia<\/strong>, Sweden<\/strong>, Switzerland<\/strong> and Turkey<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

Over the course of its previous ten editions, the Ver\u00e3o Cl\u00e1ssico<\/strong> has welcomed artists from the world elite of classical music, as well as more than fifteen hundred young musicians<\/strong>, many of whom found in the festival a launchpad for their careers. Among them are the Ukrainian violinist Dmytro Udovychenko<\/strong> (winner of the Queen Elisabeth International Competition of Brussels 2024<\/strong>), the British pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason<\/strong>, the German conductor Anna Handler<\/strong>, the American violinist Claire Wells<\/strong>, the Ukrainian pianist Roman Fediurko<\/strong> and the French flautist Luc Mangholz<\/strong>, currently soloist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

Among the many Portuguese musicians who have participated in previous editions and gone on to successful careers, notable names include flautist S\u00f3nia Pais<\/strong> and clarinetist Telmo Costa<\/strong> (both soloists of the Gulbenkian Orchestra<\/strong>), oboist Jo\u00e3o Miguel Silva<\/strong> (soloist of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra<\/strong>), double bassist Rui Pedro Rodrigues<\/strong> (soloist of the Casa da M\u00fasica Symphony Orchestra<\/strong>), and violist Sofia Silva Sousa<\/strong> (soloist of the London Symphony Orchestra<\/strong>).<\/span><\/p>

The Ver\u00e3o Cl\u00e1ssico Festival<\/strong> is organized by the DSCH Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Musical<\/strong> and enjoys the High Patronage of the President of the Republic<\/strong>. Its main patron is the Millennium BCP Foundation<\/strong>, and it receives institutional support from the Lisbon City Council<\/strong>, the CCB<\/strong>, the National Coach Museum<\/strong>, and the Music School of the National Conservatory<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

In short, the 11th Ver\u00e3o Cl\u00e1ssico Festival<\/strong> presents an exceptional program that celebrates classical music with passion, talent, and excellence \u2013 from Lisbon to the world.<\/span><\/p>
