The 2024 VER\u00c3O CL\u00c1SSICO Festival will present concerts and masterclasses from 22 July to 3 August in Lisbon, featuring major works from the musical repertoire of the 18th to the 21st centuries. The programme includes four MasterFest concerts, with the participation of outstanding musicians\u2014internationally renowned references on their instruments\u2014as well as several TalentFest concerts, showcasing young musicians taking part in the VER\u00c3O CL\u00c1SSICO Masterclasses, who are nationally and\/or internationally award-winning.<\/span><\/p>

Founded in 2015, the VER\u00c3O CL\u00c1SSICO Festival and Academy is an initiative that annually presents concerts and masterclasses in Lisbon and has been recognized by both national and international press as one of the world\u2019s leading festivals and academies.<\/span><\/p>

The VER\u00c3O CL\u00c1SSICO Masterclasses are aimed at music students and teachers. In the 2023 edition, around 200 young musicians, Portuguese and international, took part, coming from countries such as Germany, Austria, Armenia, Belgium, Canada, China, South Korea, Croatia, Denmark, Spain, the USA, France, Georgia, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, North Macedonia, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Romania, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Venezuela.<\/span><\/p>

In this 10th edition, the VER\u00c3O CL\u00c1SSICO Festival will feature musicians of worldwide reputation, from renowned conservatories and universities such as Berlin, Paris, Vienna, Salzburg, Geneva, Lausanne, Zurich, Madrid, and Copenhagen, as well as from leading orchestras, including soloists from the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, and the Orchestre National de France.<\/span><\/p>

VER\u00c3O CL\u00c1SSICO professors will lead masterclasses in musical technique and interpretation, held simultaneously in several rooms of the Artistic School of Music of the National Conservatory \/ Marqu\u00eas de Pombal Secondary School, where practice and rehearsal rooms will be available for the participating young musicians.<\/span><\/p>

All masterclass participants are eligible for the VER\u00c3O CL\u00c1SSICO Prizes, judged by the faculty. These prizes, awarded in the form of concert engagements within music seasons held in Portugal, play an important role in encouraging and recognizing the talent and work developed during VER\u00c3O CL\u00c1SSICO. Some prize-winning young musicians from previous editions have already had the opportunity to perform as soloists this season with Portugal\u2019s three regional orchestras\u2014the Orquestra do Norte, Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, and Orquestra Cl\u00e1ssica do Sul\u2014as well as at international music festivals.<\/span><\/p>

The VER\u00c3O CL\u00c1SSICO Festival & Academy thus promotes the training and public presentation of young talents, encouraging and supporting them in building their careers, while simultaneously fostering cultural exchange among participants of different nationalities. For Portuguese students, it offers\u2014within their own country\u2014a platform for developing their artistic level and an exceptional opportunity to learn from the most prestigious international professors, world-leading references on their instruments.<\/span><\/p>

The educational axis of VER\u00c3O CL\u00c1SSICO is complemented by the performance axis, embodied in the Music Festival, which throughout the event presents concerts in Lisbon featuring major works from the 18th to the 21st centuries: four MasterFest concerts, with the participation of the musicians\/professors, and six TalentFest concerts, featuring VER\u00c3O CL\u00c1SSICO young musicians who are nationally and\/or internationally award-winning.<\/span><\/p>

The VER\u00c3O CL\u00c1SSICO Festival & Academy positions itself as a unique artistic and pedagogical initiative in Portugal, a cultural project of excellence open to all audiences.<\/span><\/p>
