Founded in 2015 by pianist Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro, the Festival & Academy VERÃO CLÁSSICO is nationally and internationally recognized as one of the most important and sought-after festivals and academies of our time. With its dual focus on performance and education, VERÃO CLÁSSICO annually presents in Lisbon concerts and masterclasses led by musicians and professors from some of the world’s most prestigious institutions, as well as soloists from top orchestras, including conservatories and universities in Berlin, Paris, London, Brussels, Boston, Moscow, Oslo, Cologne, Geneva, Lausanne, Madrid, and orchestras such as the Paris Orchestra, Berlin Philharmonic, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, and Munich Bavarian Radio Orchestra.
Among the renowned musicians who have participated in the Festival & Academy VERÃO CLÁSSICO since its founding are Ana Chumachenco, Gary Hoffman, Mihaela Martin, Pascal Moraguès, Imogen Cooper, Emily Beynon, Radek Baborák, Eldar Nebolsin, Frans Helmerson, Benjamin Schmid, Stephan Picard, Miguel da Silva, Gérard Caussé, Veronika Hagen, Adrian Brendel, Janne Saksala, Matthew MacDonald, Jack Liebeck, Ramón Ortega-Quero, Lars Anders Tomter, Nicholas Daniel, Silvia Careddu, Christian Poltéra, and Anna Samuil, among others.
Since its first edition in 2015, more than 1,500 young musicians have been selected to participate in the masterclasses of the Festival & Academy VERÃO CLÁSSICO, representing over 50 countries across all five continents, including South Africa, Germany, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Kazakhstan, China, Colombia, South Korea, Croatia, Cuba, Denmark, Slovenia, Spain, the USA, France, Finland, Georgia, Guinea, Hungary, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Mexico, Norway, New Zealand, Peru, Poland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Syria, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, and others.
Since its first edition, VERÃO CLÁSSICO Awards have been presented to the most outstanding young musicians participating in the Academy. These awards, in the form of concerts held within festivals and concert seasons in Portugal, play an important role in encouraging and recognizing the talent and effort of the participants during the Festival & Academy VERÃO CLÁSSICO.
The Festival & Academy VERÃO CLÁSSICO thus promotes excellence in musical training and the public performance of young talent, supporting and encouraging participants in the development of their careers while fostering cultural exchange among musicians from diverse nationalities. For Portuguese students, it provides a platform within their own country to enhance their artistic level and offers the exceptional opportunity to learn from some of the world’s most prestigious teachers.
