The Bragança ClassicFest – International Music Festival was established in 2021 under the artistic direction of pianist Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro, with the support of the Câmara Municipal de Bragança and organized by DSCH – Associação Musical.
The first five editions of Bragança ClassicFest achieved great success, both in terms of artistic excellence and audience reception, with the majority of concerts sold out. The festival also received extensive coverage and acclaim in the national and international press.
The concerts of Bragança ClassicFest take place at the Teatro Municipal de Bragança and other iconic locations in the city—Igreja de São Francisco, Sé Velha de Bragança, and Igreja de Santa Maria—creating a healthy and inspiring intersection between music and heritage.
The festival has brought to Bragança numerous ensembles and musicians at the forefront of national and international music, including the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Asturias Symphony Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Chamber Orchestra; violinists Esther Hoppe, Mario Hossen, and Diana Tishchenko; cellists Kyril Zlotnikov and Victor Julien-Laferrière; violist Gérard Caussé; flutist Adriana Ferreira; bandoneonists Héctor del Curto and Marcelo Nisinman; and singers Lena Belkina and Julia Muzychenko, among many others.
The repertoire presented in the concerts of Bragança ClassicFest has been broad and varied, ranging from Baroque to 21st-century music, including masterpieces of Classicism and Romanticism as well as Astor Piazzolla’s nuevo tango.
The Bragança ClassicFest – International Music Festival has established itself as a cultural event of international standing and excellence within the city, region, and country, following a path of quality, rigor, and artistic sharing, while promoting universal access to culture and celebrating community life through the universal language of music.
