On 6 November 2022, at the Belém Cultural Center, the acclaimed DSCH – Schostakovich Ensemble will present a concert dedicated to the music of one of the most brilliant and genius composers in the history of music: Franz Schubert. For this concert, pianist Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro, artistic director of DSCH, will be joined by two internationally renowned musicians: the virtuoso English violinist Jack Liebeck, performing on his magnificent 1785 Guadagnini “Ex-Wilhelmj” violin, and Israeli cellist Kyril Zlotnikov, founder of the Jerusalem Quartet, with an extensive award-winning discography that includes the complete Mozart Trios with Daniel Barenboim for EMI.
Schubertíadas was the name already given at the time to gatherings centered on the figure and music of Schubert. It was, in short, a circle of friends of the composer, and it was among them that these Schubertíadas evenings were coined. It is, therefore, in this spirit, and looking back to Vienna two centuries ago, that this concert by the DSCH – Schostakovich Ensemble unfolds, which will include three famous Schubert masterpieces: the Grand Duo, the Arpeggione, and the first Piano Trio. – Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro
