VERÃO CLÁSSICO on tour 2021
Oporto, Coimbra, Aveiro and Vigo
10 to 14 December 2021
Artistic Director: Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro
The VERÃO CLÁSSICO on tour is an initiative aimed at bringing the musical excellence of the VERÃO CLÁSSICO Festival and Academy to various cities in Portugal and abroad, in the form of concerts and masterclasses.
In this first edition of VERÃO CLÁSSICO on tour, the pianist Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro and the double bassist Tiago Pinto-Ribeiro, directors of the VERÃO CLÁSSICO Festival and Academy, will be joined by three outstanding musicians, world-renowned specialists on their instruments: the Romanian violinist Mihaela Martin, the first winner of the Indianapolis International Violin Competition (USA) and a professor at the Cologne University of Music and the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin; the Franco-Swiss violist Miguel da Silva, who was for 30 years the violist of the famous Ysaÿe Quartet and is Resident Master at the Queen Elisabeth Royal Chapel in Belgium; and the Swedish cellist Frans Helmerson, who combines his passion for solo and chamber music with his teaching career at the Kronberg Academy and the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin.
Over the course of seven editions, more than 1,000 young musicians from dozens of nationalities have participated in VERÃO CLÁSSICO, several of whom were awarded the VERÃO CLÁSSICO Prizes, providing opportunities to perform in festivals and concert seasons across Portugal. VERÃO CLÁSSICO thus promotes the training and public presentation of young talents, encouraging and supporting them in building their careers while fostering cultural exchange among participants of different nationalities. For Portuguese students, it provides a platform within their own country to develop their artistic skills and an exceptional opportunity to learn from world-leading international professors, recognized authorities on their instruments.
