VERÃO CLÁSSICO on tour 2022

The VERÃO CLÁSSICO on tour is an initiative aimed at bringing the musical excellence of the VERÃO CLÁSSICO Festival and Academy, held annually in Lisbon since 2015, to various cities in Portugal and abroad, through concerts and masterclasses.

The VERÃO CLÁSSICO Festival and Academy is considered both nationally and internationally one of the most important and sought-after summer festivals and academies. With its dual performance and educational focus, VERÃO CLÁSSICO annually presents concerts and masterclasses in Lisbon, led by musicians and professors from some of the world’s most prestigious educational institutions, as well as soloists from leading orchestras, including the Conservatories and Music Schools of Berlin, Moscow, Paris, London, Brussels, Boston, Oslo, Cologne, Geneva, Lausanne, and Madrid, and orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Bavarian Radio Orchestra, and Orchestre de Paris, among others. 

Among the renowned musicians who have collaborated with VERÃO CLÁSSICO since its foundation are Gary Hoffman, Pascal Moraguès, Imogen Cooper, Emily Beynon, Radek Baborák, Eldar Nebolsin, Mihaela Martin, Frans Helmerson, Benjamin Schmid, Stephan Picard, Miguel da Silva, Gérard Caussé, Veronika Hagen, Adrian Brendel, Janne Saksala, Matthew MacDonald, Jack Liebeck, Ramón Ortega-Quero, Nicholas Daniel, Silvia Careddu, and Anna Samuil. 

Over eight editions, more than 1,000 young musicians from dozens of nationalities have participated in VERÃO CLÁSSICO, several of whom have been awarded the VERÃO CLÁSSICO Prizes, offering them concert opportunities within festivals and music seasons in Portugal. 

VERÃO CLÁSSICO thus promotes the training and public performance of young talents, encouraging and supporting them in building their careers while simultaneously fostering cultural exchange among participants of diverse nationalities. For Portuguese students, it provides a platform within their own country to develop their artistic level and offers an exceptional opportunity to learn from some of the world’s most prestigious international professors, leading authorities on their instruments.

The VERÃO CLÁSSICO Festival and Academy was created by pianist Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro, who serves as its artistic and pedagogical director.

The 9th edition of the VERÃO CLÁSSICO Festival and Academy will take place from 17 to 29 July 2023, in Lisbon.
